Climate dignitaries, “experts,” and activists in Cancun for the United Nations COP16 global-warming conference were caught on film over the weekend signing a petition to ban water and another to cripple the U.S. economy if the American government refused to cooperate with the “international community.”

Among the climate “solutions” proposed by scientists, officials, and others for the Cancun COP16 “global-warming” summit are ideas like a global “one-child policy” modeled on Communist China’s brutal system, a carbon rationing scheme for every person on Earth, world socialism, and a series of global taxes paid to the United Nations.

COP16 logoWhile United Nations global-warming dignitaries were invoking ancient Maya goddesses for help in hammering out a wealth-redistribution “climate” treaty, prominent columnists and publications around the world were heaping scorn and ridicule on the whole COP16 extravaganza currently underway in Cancun — even heralding the end of the whole “scam.”

The multi-billion dollar “market” for so-called “carbon credits” could be in jeopardy as the 1997 Kyoto Protocol, which created the framework for the emissions-limiting scheme, expires in 2012 — with no apparent successor agreement in sight.

The United Nations and its corporate allies called for a global ban on incandescent light bulbs and kerosene lamps Wednesday at the COP16 global-warming summit in Cancun, claiming in a new study that “energy-efficient” lights would reduce the amount of carbon dioxide emissions.

Amid low expectations and widespread disillusion, thousands of “climate dignitaries” from around the world descended on the Mexican resort city of Cancun for the first day of global-warming negotiations, each hoping to get something. A massive security presence — over 3,000 extra police and soldiers, along with warships off the coast — was deployed to protect the event and its participants.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released its new “State of the Climate 2009” report on July 28, claiming that evidence for global warming is “unmistakable” and that it’s happening because of greenhouse gases. But critics are already poking holes in the alarmist arguments as the press jumps on the story.

In an effort to tackle emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), Belgium is considering a radical and controversial proposal to dissolve human bodies and dispose of them in sewage systems, according to international news reports. Undertakers hope to have approval in a few months.

EPA Offers Cash for Propaganda

The Environmental Protection Agency is offering thousands of taxpayer dollars and free publicity to whoever produces the most compelling pro-government-regulation propaganda, it announced on its website and in a YouTube video.

With the COP16 climate-change summit underway in Cancun, the scaremongering over global warming is reaching preposterous new heights as so-called “leaders” warn of humanity’s impending doom — unless, of course, all nations agree to global carbon taxes and other statist measures.
