Genachowski would like to formalize the principles of net neutrality as permanent regulations. Net neutrality is the concept that all traffic on the Internet should be treated equally and allowed the same fast speed of transmission and access to all websites should be unhindered, and users should not be restricted to proprietary devices with a company’s Internet service.

Bait and switch? How do you "regulate" neutrality? Does neutrality need to be regulated? Will some bureaucrat decide that "fairness" equates to "neutrality"? Will someone else then decide what is "fair"? Why is it that I just don't trust government? |

FCC Chief Backs Net Neutrality What a load of Bullsh*T!!!. comparing internet service to postal service is like comparing one person using a water hose to 10 people passing buckets back and forth and justifying paying the one person the sum of the individual paychecks of those using the buckets. It's no secret that ISP throttle throughput anyway, so passing net neutrality may just get them to do all they can to keep you because if they don't someone else will. Funny thing about deregulation; it most often ends up with all the companies raising rates more frequently in order to 'keep pace with the cost of providing these services'.. health care anyone?? Beyond that; once you have companies paying a premium to ensure traffic to their site is as fast as possible, you'll end up taxing the little guys who must either pay or have traffic to their site restricted by default. And THAT goes totally against a free market mentality. but, like energy and health care and even residential phone services (remember the Bells anyone?); we can give big business another 5-10 more years to continue sticking it to us before we do anything or we can just address it now. These people are not looking out for your better interests, they are looking out for their own!!! |

Julius Genachowski, Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, has proposed extending FCC regulation of the Internet and wireless carriers for the sake of so-called net neutrality.
