Members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee — Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), John Dingell (D-Mich.), Frank Pallone (D-N.J.), and Bart Stupack (D-Mich.) — met to discuss the bill on May 26, which 13 days bofore it was introduced. These congressmen are all sponsors of the bill. They also held a hearing on the bill on June 3, five days before it was officially introduced. A facility in one general physical location devoted to the growing and harvesting of crops, the raising of animals (including seafood), or both. Washing, trimming of outer leaves of, and cooling produce are considered part of harvesting. The term “farm” includes: By this definition, one owns a farm if one consumes everything one produces, but if one sells any produce, one may no longer be considered a farm. And, a facility is any place that holds food; my kitchen pantry holds food, and so does my local grocery store and I’ve seen them wash and trim vegetables there, so if one were to adhere strictly to the terms above, a grocery store could be under the control of the FDA. It would seem then, that a centralized food system under the complete control of the government is the goal of this bill and others like it. Trackback(0)

One-World Government This sounds like just another effort in a multi-front attack on our Constitution. I wonder what the tipping point will be that will cause Americans to restore Constitutional order, if possible. Or have too many Americans forsaken Jesus Christ and thus rendered us vulnerable to enslavement? Speaking of Christian virtue, Samuel Adams said "If Virtue & Knowledge are diffused among the People, they will never be enslav'd. This will be their great Security." Like our founding fathers, it is not true American patriots who are in rebellion. It is our own government that has stepped outside its limited powers and has become tyrannical. We must clearly identify those within government (elected, appointed, bureaucrats, etc.) who are domestic enemies of our Constitution, then remove them from their positions by means of our Constitutional processes. They are the rebels. |

End Run Since the outlook for the USDA's National Animal ID System (NAIS) is looking pretty dismal, could this legislation be an end run to replace it? Hmmmm. It's all about turning us into good little robots totally dependent on "government". |

Fire them! They are overstepping the line everywhere. To touch my family's table is off-limits. Fire them! Never again vote for anyone who votes for government-expanding bills. Vote Constitution or Libertarian, or run yourself if those parties are not forwarding a candidate for a position on your ballot. (Last ballot, there was only one office that did not have a CP or L listed.) Come on, if we do not hang together .... Vote your conscience or don't write letters complaining. They will not listen if they know you'll vote for them anyway! |

$180 solution means serfdom won't happen Great article. I saw the same thing happening and started a company in response. Now the small growers have a solution for $180. That is alot cheaper than a flock of lobbyists. |

Another sweeping draconian measure from your representatives in Washington is quickly taking shape under H.R. 2749, the Food Safety Enhancement Act (FSEA) of 2009. Though not officially introduced until June 8, this bill seems to be the bill of choice for passage, as opposed to the eight other bills on the same subject that still sit in committees.
