A medical doctor, LTC Lakin points to the constitutional requirement that a president has to be “a natural born citizen,” something the colonel does not believe Mr. Obama has demonstrated. Actually inviting a court martial, Lieutenant Colonel Lakin deliberately failed to appear as ordered to Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where his unit was readying to deploy to Afghanistan. Reassigned by the Army to the Pentagon while his court martial has been proceeding, he awaits a trial that will begin on October 13 at Fort Meade in northern Virginia. In March of this year, Army Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Terrence Lakin announced his refusal to obey an order to serve in Afghanistan. With 17 years of service under his belt, and a spotless record that saw him receive numerous awards from the military including a Bronze Star earned for service during a previous tour of duty in Afghanistan, he decided to challenge Barack Obama’s qualifications to hold the high office of President of the United States.
On August 31, Retired Air Force Lieutenant General Thomas McInerney sent a sworn affidavit to the Court Martial supporting Lakin’s motions that seek the president’s birth and school records. Not alone in backing Lakin, he is the highest ranking military officer to render his support for the recalcitrant lieutenant colonel.

... How does anyone get on 50 state ballots without showing the election commissions/boards/officials that he/she is a natural-born citizen of the United States? This is basic stuff. Doesn't anyone do their job? What do we pay these people for? |

Nope Jim They didn't It appears that he got on all ballots because Pelosi signed off on a bogus declaration of nomination for him . . . Actually, she signed two different ones on the same day. Both notarized, btw. One said he was eligible per the Constitution. That one went to HI since at the time it was the only state that required that to be on the ballot. The other 49 conveniently left out the eligibility phrase, probably for the first time ever in the Democratic party. All 50 states have been checked by a couple of different lawyers, and not one did any kind of eligibility check on Obama. That job was supposed to have been done by the Sec. of State in each state. Not one did their job. None can produce evidence of checking him out. Lawsuits against the various secretaries of states have been thrown out of court for standing, as have the challenges to his eligibility. Its all a big fraud and most of Congress, it seems, is in on it. |

Trust but verify This is nothing but fear and intimidation taking power. You can't question Obama for the fear and intimidation of riots in the streets. I don't know how any sane person cannot conclude that because Obama placed America in this situation there is less trust in his eligibility and that fact is leading to negative consequences throughout society. |

Its an awfully simple question If there is nothing to be hidden why has Oabama spent more than $1.5million dollars hiding it? A man with nothing to hide who desperately wants America to get behind him would simly produce the document and move on, instead this man refuses to allow anyone to view his personal records, why? |

I do not know whether he is a citizen or not but I have heard that many Hawaiian grandparents would announce the births of their grandchildren in the Hi. papers even though they were not not born to/as legal citizens in their state as their restrictions were more lax and also to allow the children to enjoy rich collegiate subsidies. I know for certain that Oblome acts like no true American I know, so his citizenship status like his religion remains a mystery. |

I hope we do not get sucked into a rabbit hole... Let's remember a couple of things people. Yes, it is important that Mr. Obama follow at least one clause of the Constitution. But, that point aside, does that change the fact that he has disregarded the rest? If we allow ourselves to be sucked into arguments about this inconsequential issue, we will miss bigger issues right in front of our faces. Have you ever considered that Mr. Obama has seen an opportunity to keep those of us fascinated by the birther movement occupied long after it was useful? If you were him, and if you were a legitimate natural born citizen, wouldn't you refuse to make the documents public as long as possible? It would be the easiest way to make otherwise sensible people fret over the most inconsequential elements of his shameful presidency! |

He is not my President and I will never refer to him as such. He says he can't go around wearing his birth certificate on his forehead. How about ceasing to spend millions on attorney fees to keep from displaying it even once? You think you are the great deceiver, but you deceive only a few. |

I believe the 2008 DEMS ticket would be in-validated according to the continuity of government claus. Which means the McCain-Palin ticket would take over, or if the Supreme Court steps in they can hold a new election and until then the last sitting President, "BUSH" would have to hold office until the new election. Oh, and as to everything Obama has done while in office as a Usurper, it all gets undone and wiped clean. As to Obama, I would not want to be him as to his punishment, it could be very bad, not just for him but for everyone involved in this episode. They could outlaw the DEM Party just like they did the Nazi's. Hell, Obama couldn't even be Impeached, since he would really not leagally a "President" but a usurper, which gives him No protection under the Constitution, he could be looking at the death penalty. |

You guys are so convinced that he could not have been elected legitimately that you won't believe anything anyone produces. I can appreciate disagreeing with Obama about lots, but the failure to admit his legitimacy crosses a line. Here is a guy who has lived the American dream: he worked hard, he went to Harvard, he went out and worked with the poor, and now, explain to me exactly why you reject the documentation that he has provided, again and again? |

However, the documentation he has provided 1)is not the original long form birth certificate, and 2) is not an explanation as to why Mrs. Obama once said in a speech, "My husband has recent visited his homeland in Kenya." Why? If you hang out on the military justice blogs, where real military attorneys talk about this stuff, the opinion has been universal for months that LTC Lakin was doomed from the start. It is well settled law that a soldier cannot disobey orders unless he is certain that they specifically require him to break a law. There is none of this worry/concern/not sure stuff. Any competent attorney (and that does not include Lakin's civilian lawyer) would have told him that he will not get discovery, will not prove anything, and will not escape punishment for an obvious violation of the UCMJ. So why is he doing it? |

Homeland Michael asked about Michelle Obama's remark: "My husband has recent visited his homeland in Kenya." First the obvious: Even if Barack Obama were born Kenya, Michelle Obama, a trained attorney, is not going to say he was, so you can write off that interpretation from the get go. There is a web site in Kenya (Trendy Tours) that talks about Kogelo village in Kenya as Barack Obama's "original home." They go on to talk about his birth at the Kapi'olani Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. It's just a figure of speech. |

Michael, give me a break Michael--There is so much evidence that Obama was born in Hawaii, including newspaper reports at the time of his birth. Someone would have to be a real conspiricy theorist to imagine all of the evidence to have been planted just to fool people decades later. And about Michelle Obama's remark about her husband's Kenyan homeland, how many Irish-Americans or Italian-Americans, born in this country, talk about the old world as their "homeland" in an extended sense? You need more than an off-handed remark like the one Michelle Obama made to base birther-ism on. |

Give Your Country A Break Daniel--the keystone of all that evidence would be the original long form birth certificate, why not just release it and finally prove everyone wrong? Daniel and Dr. C.--if Mrs. Obama is a trained lawyer doesn't that mean she has the knowledge and a legal basis for her statement? Also, there is a very big difference between a Irish-born senior citizen remembering the good old days and the First Lady of the United States making a speech. |
