Advertising financed by AARP has supported President Obama’s reform efforts, and the president himself said at a recent town hall meeting in Portsmouth, New Hampshire: “We have the AARP on board because they know this is a good deal for our seniors.” These things didn’t sit well with the many AARP members who are upset over proposed cuts to Medicare that will total $313 billion over ten years.
Many former AARP members are defecting to the American Seniors Association, which bills itself as more conservative than AARP and solidly opposes President Obama’s healthcare reform proposals. The group signed up more than 5,000 people last week alone, and many of the envelopes from these new members contained AARP cards that had been cut up.

... I dropped AARP several years ago when I realized they only embraced left and far left agendas. I never agreed with them on any issue. I believe they use member funds to supports far left issues and completely forget a central perspective. |

Health Care in America Are you freaking kidding me? We are the only country that does not have health care for everyone. When I retired my Medicare offered greater benefits than the Aetna full company health policy. Don't people realize what insurance companies are doing to them? My Aussie boyfriend explained in detail their health plan. I see nothing wrong with it -- oh yes, there are few knots in it, but come on -- what the health insurance companies are doing to us (killing us in some instances that I know of) is ridiculous and why would anyone want to buy into that.
