“We were under the impression that TPN was a non-profit organization like NPA, interested only in uniting and educating tea party activists on how to make a real difference in the political arena. The entire NPA objective is to put the power of the precinct back in the hands of the people. Our organized effort to accomplish that goal is growing faster than we can keep up. So there is no benefit to wasting time and resources on meetings and conventions still hung up on defining the problem. It’s time for real action and real solutions. We are totally focused on the solutions. The people will figure all of this stuff out on their own. National Precinct Alliance will continue to focus on putting the people in control of their own destiny. The people can take it from there,” said Glass in the press release announcing his group’s departure from the roster of convention backers and presenters. As for Representative Bachmann, her office adamantly insisted that her decision to not participate in the Tea Party National Convention should not be extrapolated as a wider comment on the goals of the grassroots movement itself, saying “Nothing could be further from the truth.” Photo: AP Images

... JOE WOLVERTON does not understand how the Tea Party works. The party is not crumbling because of people not wanting to attend or sponsor the convention. The party is a grass roots effort to put morals back into politics. Crooked business leaders who want to make some fast money by hosting a convention do not understand the party either. The article overall was vague on an overall theme. The best part for me was the quotes by Glass. I hope to see more coverage of this movement in the future, just in articles that are written with more clarity. |

... ""The people can take it from there,” said Glass in the press release announcing his group’s departure from the roster of convention backers and presenters." "...there is the distinct possibility that the slate of speakers that has stuck with Glass and company is impressive and inspiring enough to offset the negative attention the event has attracted in advance of Thursday’s “kick off”..." Am I the only one who sees a direct contradiction here? I assume you meant the slate of speakers who stuck with Phillips. Another misstep for Mrs. Palin, but she's bound to have a few. Hopefully this one isn't off a cliff. |

Beck and Palin are infiltrators not patriots. Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck are Judas Goats whose involvement with Tea Parties is designed to derail the Tea Parties and blunt their effectiveness. All I need to know about Palin to know what she's about is that she was selected by New World Order promoter McCain as his running mate. |

Palin just worked the crowd. Provided no specifics as to where government can be reduced I was the first on the radio to comment on Sarah Palin's speech. The host Jim Villanuci played the tape of her speech. She worked the crowd like a typical entertainer making references to our fighting men and women, the flag, mom and apple pie. Then she mentioned Scott Brown and said he represents the Tea Party! Woa, there moose lady. He represents what? I called the show and was allowed to point out that Browns's credentials are essentially those of the liberals. I got in some hits on how quickly Republicans forget the spend and tax policies of big government Republicans; W Bush's 4 Trillion debt that he left us; Ronald Reagan broke through the first Trillion Dollar National debt, etc. It was fun before I was cut off. |

Say That Again Hey Mr. Woverton, I found your article much too flowery, why not try some straight talk for a change. But than maybe your article would only be a couple of paragraphs. Journalism 101- cut out all the extra talk and stick to the facts. |

Three years after passage of the Tea Act by the British Parliament, colonists were fed up to the point of dumping 342 chests of the iconic British beverage into Boston Harbor and becoming thereby icons themselves. The men (estimates range from as few as 30 to as many as 130) refused finally to be placated by repeated promises of change and reform and, rather than wait for legislative response, they exercised the Lockean right of “self-defense” and defended their God-given right and constitutional rights.
