Concealed weapons-carrying classes continue to fill up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but the majority of the students in the classes have changed from men to women. The enrollment of women in classes has tripled in the last 10 years. In consideration of the recent police layoffs at the Tulsa Police Department, women feel the need to acquire self-defense skills more than ever.

Please don't say "packing heat" The term "packing heat" comes from "heist" or steal. Since heist is also german for hot, stolen goods are hot and the gun used to steal them is a "heater". No responsible gun owner carries a "heater" and therefore doesn't "pack heat". Leave "packing heat" to the old Jimmy Cagney and Edward G. Robinson movies where it belongs. |

Heater For certain Hollywood picked up the terminology from a Mickey Spillane type detective novel. One of the funniest episodes of the original television show Star Trek, Kirk, Spock and Bones dressed up like Chicago land hoods and used words like "heater." Spock picked up chatter from the planet below and was perplexed by the word "heater." He checked in his computer files for a definition of "heater" and the computer's female voice gave him the slang definition meaning a gun. The usual trio - Kirk, Spock and Bones McCoy transported down and found everyone packing Tommy guns. What a sight it would be if a bunch of Tulsa "pistol packing" ladies were also shouldering Tommy guns. I wouldn't worry too much about the term "packing heat" as much as I would worry about when is the NRA "leadership" going to make use of their 3 million members and begin to erase all those "anti-heater" laws from the books? |

2nd amendment? If they are using the concealed carry license then they are NOT using the 2nd amendment. If you have to ask to carry then you are bowing to the government. Jerry |

Women in Tulsa, Oklahoma, are utilizing the Second Amendment more than ever. Frank Wiley of Tulsa’s Fox 23 news reports an increase of concealed carry licenses among women in Tulsa as a result of police layoffs.
