| U.S. to Send $900 Million to Gaza and PNA | | Print | |

The PNA, which lost an election in Gaza in 2005 to the Hamas terrorist faction and subsequently was driven from Gaza, governs Palestinians from the West Bank. State Department spokesman Gordon Duguid announced on the day of the conference that the aid money would be distributed through USAID, in coordination with United Nations agencies and other international organizations. FOXNews.com reported that it is likely that among the distribution agencies would be the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), "which has been accused of allowing terrorist propaganda in classrooms it funds and has suffered several high-profile examples of terrorist leaders who were on the agency's payroll." Actually, there should be "grave concern" even if UNRWA were not involved. The PNA, though considered more "moderate" than Hamas, is headed by Mahmoud Abbas, who succeeded Yasser Arafat as chairman of the terrorist Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) in 2005. And Hamas itself is well entrenched in Gaza. Mark Regev, a spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, expressed concerns about where the aid money would wind up, saying: "We definitely don't want to see the goodwill of the international community exploited by Hamas and serve Hamas's extremist purposes." For more information about Mahmoud Abbas' PLO/Fatah and the folly of supporting "moderate" terrorists as opposed to worse terrorists, see The New American article "A Bad Investment." Trackback(0)

PNA is useless - and yes, we don't have the money anyway. The US should cut all foreign aid now. We don't have the money or the credit. If we really want to help the Palestinians we will stop the ridiculously disproportionate funding of the fascist, murderous, and illegitimate so-called "State of Israel". We should instead set the Palestinians free from their giant prison camps in Gaza and the West Bank where they are being slowly exterminated by the Israelis. |

..... This is complete idiocracy what Mrs. Clinton is proposing and carrying out. We should not be sending money to foreign countries, especially Hamas owned Gaza because: 1)We are in desperate need of our national money, and 2) This money is almost certainly going to be funding the anti-Israel terrorists that not only hate Israel, but also our country, the United States, which should not be acceptable by any means. |

During a Gaza reconstruction conference held at the Red Sea resort of Sharm el Sheik, Egypt, on March 2, international donors pledged $4.481 billion in aid help the Palestinian economy and rebuild the devastated Gaza strip. The United States was represented at the conference by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who pledged $900 million — $300 million for Gaza reconstruction and another $600 million to support the Palestinian National Authority's (PNA) budget shortfalls and operating expenses.
