Outrage has erupted across France and the political spectrum, with the right-leaning National Front, the leftist Socialist Party, and other organizations offering sharp criticism, gathering petitions and calling for his immediate resignation or termination. "Resign Mr. Mitterrand, and perhaps afterwards we'll be able to give lessons to other people," said National Front Vice-President Marine Le Pen, referring to France’s public opposition to sex tourism. She also read damning quotes from his 2005 book The Bad Life in the televised interview. Trackback(0)

... Bravo, this is the first article that states simply and accurately the situation, and, for the first time, a valid opinion. I live in France (for the last 25 yrs) and lately have been appalled at the lack of clear information (and clear thought) concerning the latest headlines -'scandals'of course - of this sort. From what I read, people are outraged and demand that journalist start to do the job they are paid for. Your article is a good example of that. |

Now you know where to look for the Truth. Here in America, we too are "appalled at the lack of clear information (and clear thought) concerning the latest headlines," and not just the ones regarding scandals. JBS has always shared the Truth when others were afraid to utter it. Please spread the word! And God Bless. Freedom has an address! www.jbs.org |

don't believe the opinion polls ! Apart from the Élite (which Frédéric Mitterrand and Polanski are part of) nobody in France has any sympathy for Polanski. Opinion polls were about 75% for Mitterrand's resignation, then one single poll came out saying 2/3 of french people wanted him to stay : surprise ! This was the one that got plastered all over the newspapers, and was widely echoed abroad. I'm sorry to have to say that the media don't even need to be state-controlled, they fall over each other to toady up to Sarko, the government is even worse, as you may have read, with his ignoramus son getting voted for a top job at 23. Caligula/Incitatus and all that. Visibly Sarko is feeling the strain, more twitchy and bug-eyed with each day that passes, the next heart-attack and there'll be a palace revolt, or worse... It's no fun living in our cheese-republic. |

After coming out with strong support for admitted child rapist Roman Polanski, French Culture Minister Frederic Mitterrand is once again in the spotlight — over stunning revelations in his autobiography that he admitted to paying for sex with young boys. And now he is refusing to step down.
