gavelShe is now a healthy baby, bouncing about, playing with bubbles in the bathtub, and taking in everything this mysterious world she entered has to offer. But she almost never was.

God may not have a place in the modern American classroom, but the Devil is a different story. That is, at least in one North Carolina high school.

New Study Finds Spanking Is Good for Kids

Spanking is like milk: It does a body good — or at least a mind. No, this isn’t the conclusion of traditionalist parenting expert Dr. James Dobson but the finding of a study conducted by psychology professor Marjorie Gunnoe at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. FoxNews.com reports on the story, writing, “According to the research, children spanked up to the age of 6 were likely as teenagers to perform better at school and were more likely to carry out volunteer work and to want to go to college than their peers who had never been physically disciplined.”

Black Friday: Materialism in America

shopperIt’s ironic that Black Friday, which has a negative etymology and connotation, should have become one of the more anticipated days of the year. Joseph Abrams at FoxNews reports, writing:

Mom Arrested for Having Fat Son

weightWhile America may not have anything resembling Saudi Arabia's religious police, called "The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice," we do have our own strange version of vice squads. Only, the trespasses they root out today are less likely to involve heroin and harlots than Twinkies and trans-fats. And their latest move is the arrest of a mother and the seizure of her child. Her crime? Her son is too fat.

wombWashington, D.C., would be able to use tax money to fund abortions under a $768 million spending bill passed by the House on July 16. An AP story carried by FoxNews.com and other media reports: "The measure passed by a narrow 219-208 margin, with many anti-abortion Democrats voting against it because of the move by Democratic leaders to permit the D.C. government to use locally raised tax revenues to provide abortions — reversing a long-standing ban imposed by Congress."
