When Barack Obama said recently, “If you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own,” he wasn’t all wrong. In fact, he knows well someone whose life thus attests. This person is a man of mixed race who billed himself as black. Growing up in a liberal state, he was surrounded by guilt-ridden white liberals. He benefitted from scholarships granted on the basis of race. He then won a state seat by running unopposed. When he ran for the U.S. Senate, he had a prostrate media in his corner. And when he ran for the presidency, they cranked it up into high gear, making this nobody a household name.

But there’s a kicker: Obama didn’t even get his you-didn’t-get-there-on-your-own speech on his own. It’s essentially the same speech that Elizabeth “Fauxcahontas” Warren gave in September 2011 when she said, “There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own — nobody.

In another example of how leftist dogma is undermining America, the Department of Justice is forcing New York City to hire, and pay damages to, unqualified firefighters — all in the name of equality.

Obama's activities at this past weekend's "Gay Pride" parades in cities such as New York, Chicago, and San Francisco, prove again that the Democrats are no longer the party of the common man. They are now the party of the uncommon man.

This year the nefarious goings-on included an invasion by hordes of Barack Obama campaign staffers, who zealously plied the fertile recruiting grounds that are the parades. In fact, writes the New York Times, “The parades could have been confused for Obama campaign rallies. In Chicago on Sunday, 300 of his campaign staff members and volunteers marched down Halsted Street through the heart of the gay district to chants of ‘Four more years! Four more years!’"

Many unthinkingly subscribe to the notion that polling-place quantity means political quality at election time. But low turnout isn’t to be lamented; it’s to be applauded. After all, if someone doesn’t have the get-up-and-go to get out and vote without being prodded, it’s a given that he doesn’t possess the greater initiative necessary to inform himself on the issues. In this case, he shouldn’t be voting in the first place.

Thus should we never encourage the apathetic to cast ballots, for disinterest correlates with incompetence.

Change you can't believe in: This past Tuesday North Dakotans decided that property taxes were in but a traditional school nickname was out. It's yet another case of maintaining all the wrong parts of the status quo.
