Its report, Politics and Global Warming, states 53 percent of Tea Party members say global warming is not happening.

In the midst of a lawsuit before the State Supreme Court between Virginia's Attorney General, Ken Cuccinelli, and the University of Virginia (UVA), the school has received yet another Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for the same materials which prompted the current lawsuit. Virginia Republican Delegate Bob Marshall of Prince William Co., the public interest law firm American Tradition Institute, and federal attorney David Schnare are asking the university to turn over documents they say contain important global warming research used by the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to mold environmental policies worldwide.

Congressional Plans to Shackle EPA

Congressman Fred Upton (left) has the climate change movement enflamed with speculation about his upcoming tenure as chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. Last week the Michigan Republican teamed with Americans for Prosperity President Tim Phillips to publish an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal entitled "How Congress Can Stop the EPA's Power Grab." They described new carbon dioxide emission regulations imposed January 2 by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as "an unconstitutional power grab that will kill millions of jobs."

CapitolMedia pundits predict war between the incoming 112th Congress and Obama's Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) over heightened regulations the agency announced in late December. Many believe these regulations will effectively circumvent congressional authority over environmental policies.

Japan Rejects Cap and Trade

Japanese flagThe government of Japan has rejected a cap-and-trade proposal for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions hard on the heels of the UN's Climate Change Conference in Cancun, Mexico, in early December.

CRUThe New American has raised the ire of Britain's University of East Anglia (UEA) with an article that briefly recalled the Climategate scandal of November 2009, in which hundreds of hacked e-mails from the school's Climatic Research Unit (CRU) brought accusations of conspiracy and fraud against scientists there. The story is still making headlines more than one year later because the scientists involved are high-profile contributors to the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), an organization many skeptics believe was created exclusively to provide evidence of anthropogenic global warming (AGW) and usher in carbon-restricting climate policies.

It's going to be a white Christmas at London's Heathrow Airport, with record low temperatures and snowfall canceling and delaying hundreds of flights. BAA Airports, Ltd., which operates Heathrow, announced on Tuesday, December 21 that it will function at one-third capacity until Thursday morning. With more adverse weather in the forecast, it is doubtful the airport will return to full service even then. Heathrow's website asks travelers not to come to the airport unless they have confirmed in advance that their flights are still scheduled.

Automakers Sue EPA Over E15 Fuel Blend

A coalition of automakers is suing President Obama's Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), hoping to overturn that agency's decision to allow the sale of E15, a blend of 15 percent ethanol added to gasoline, for cars and light trucks manufactured since 2007. The Engine Products Group (EPG) filed suit on Monday with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
