Voters in New York�s Ninth Congressional District are coming out today to vote for their new congressman, who will replace disgraced former Representative Anthony Weiner, a Democrat. While the seat has been held by a Democrat consistently for the past 78 years (the last Republican to represent the district was Andrew Petersen, who represented the district from 1921-1923), political analysts and pollsters have strong reason to believe that history may be made tonight if Republican candidate Bob Turner (left) defeats his Democratic opponent, Assemblyman David Weprin.

The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is well known as the most politically-engaged and radically leftist labor union in the United States today. SEIU frequently co-partners with the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) and Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) on various legislative and political events, and was a close partner of corrupt leftist advocacy group ACORN, but is now attempting to also steer the course of Republican politics.

Newt Gingrich is a political figure who has been the subject of much controversy. A candidate in the Republican Party presidential primary elections, he is considered to be a GOP heavyweight in a crowded field of candidates. Gingrich, who was Speaker of the House from 1995-1999, and who served as a Republican in the House from 1978 until his retirement, has jumped on the conservative bandwagon, but  he is no real conservative, as long known by true constitutionalist conservatives.

Dominique Strauss-Kahn, former Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), who resigned Wednesday after being arrested on allegations that he attempted to sexually assault a chambermaid at Manhattan’s posh Sofitel Hotel, has been released from New York City’s notorious Rikers Island jail on bail Friday afternoon.

Most Americans believe, as they were told by the media and taught in schools and colleges, that the Cold War “ended” with events including the so-called “collapse” of the Soviet Union in 1991 and the demolition of the Berlin Wall in November 1989. Part of this overall mission has been the establishment of formal ties with various African nations, most of them impoverished and home to petty dictators, such as the beleaguered nation of Zambia, where concerns have been raised that China is engaged in widespread human rights abuses against Zambian copper mine workers, according to a report released last week from Human Rights Watch.

Russian natural gas corporation Gazprom was given the green light by the government of the north-central African nation Niger for the purpose of exploring the impoverished country for possible uranium mining opportunities. Gazprom subsidiary Gazprombank NGS, based in Moscow, was given a license to explore for uranium in the region of Agadez in northern Niger, reported Bloomberg World News.

China has announced that it will step up its investment in various Sudanese infrastructure projects, according to reports in the state-run Xinhua News.
