That, undoubtedly, is the message many of our enemies are (gleefully) taking from the Obama administration’s program to increase greatly the recruitment of non-citizens into the ranks of our Armed Services. Building on initiatives begun by George W. Bush, President Barack Obama is pushing for accelerated citizenship for foreign nationals who respond to the call. As reported here recently, the manpower pinch caused by our far-flung wars and Obama’s plans for big increases in troop deployments to Afghanistan has the Pentagon seeking recruits from unconventional sources, such as residents who are here on temporary visas. The dangers of the program are obvious. First, it provides a huge incentive magnet to draw even more illegal aliens here in hopes of obtaining quick citizenship. Second, and more serious, is the tremendous risk to national security. Which terrorist group or hostile foreign regime will not see this as a golden opportunity to send its agents to U.S. military service, both for the valuable training and the prize of Trojan Horse citizenship? It is imperative that we not take the enlistment of soldiers into the various branches of our military services lightly. Enlistees are given training into weapons and tactics. They are given the "play book" for our military. This is one of the ways that the Zetas, the members of the Mexican military and law enforcement who are challenging the powerful drug cartels for supremacy gained their knowledge — we trained them when they claimed that they would assist the United States in the interdiction of drugs flowing across our border with Mexico.??Additionally, members of the military are given access to military bases and other secure strategic installations. The security badges and access to facilities truly represent the "Keys to the Kingdom!" Photo: AP Images Trackback(0)

Stupid People deserve what they get. Stupid and traitorous Democratic liberals are going to allow the Obama Administration to destroy the U.S. with the biggetst amnesty ever followed by the chain migration of millions, in an economy that is already ruining Americans. Perhaps we deserve it for being so stupid. |

Modern Rome This worked out real well for Rome, didn't it? They fell when they relied on foreign solders to defend them, which they did not. Message to Obama, read your history or you are doomed to repeat it. This includes FDR's failures on the economy that you seem set to repeat. |

... This worked really well for the North during the Civil War, as people were getting off the boat they were recruited to join the Union.... |

Talking about stupid? It makes me shiver every time I hear or read things like "Stupid and traitorous Democratic liberals". I would call that narrowmindedness and stupid. As you might have heard, Obama is trying to make you look beyond stereotypes like Democrats and Republicans and together deal with issues everybody is facing. Back to the subject. This new program has nothing to do with Obama as it was already in the works during the last administration dating back to even 2006 it seems. Military and national security will always be an issue when dealing with people. People, US-citizens from birth or naturalized US-citizens, are all able to betray their country, can all be susceptable to bribes and sell secrets. You just don't know who it might be. There are cases of born-Americans that betrayed their country. Too bad the writer of this article is biased and doesn't mention does cases. What is the difference between someone immigrating to America first, request citizenship after 5 years and than enlist? This can be just as dangerous, but I don't see people complaining about that. Do you really believe that these recruits won't be screened to the last detail? |

Military Intelligence 'Do you really believe that these recruits won't be screened to the last detail?' -Edski Did you not read the above 3 examples about how our ‘supposedly’ top ‘intelligence’ organizations were exploited. I seriously doubt an army recruiter who has a quota to meet is going to use any greater skills or resources to screen his potential recruits. While I agree that everyone is susceptible to traitorous acts and not necessarily an immigrant wanting citizenship thru service, it does create another avenue of exploitation. |
