Border Apprehensions Jump 40 Percent in June. Illegals Bringing in Chinese Virus

Despite renewed concern about a resurgence of the Chinese Virus and President Trump’s immediate deportation order, illegal aliens continued flooding across the border in June.

Border agents collared more than 30,000, Customs and Border Protection reported, a 40.5-percent increase from May, which itself posted a 36-percent increase from April.

The number of illegals apprehended increased across all categories, a signal that the Camp of the Saints-style invasion of the United States might well have resumed. Frighteningly, the “migrants” are bringing the Chinese Virus across the border and are flooding hospitals in the region.

More than 100,000 illegals have crossed the border since the pandemic began.

Though the total on the year is more than 300,000, that figure is less than half the number that had crossed by this time last year.

Totals
Illegals apprehended — those who jumped the border between ports of entry and those apprehended at ports of entry and considered inadmissibles — totaled 32,512, up from May’s 23,142.

The number of illegals caught crossing the frontier jumped 39.6 percent from 21,498 to 30,300.

The largest category was single adults at 27,718, bringing the total in that subcategory to 194,052 for the year.

Illegals caught sneaking into the country caught thus far number 259,147, CBP reported.

Illegals Caught Crossing the Border — Month / Year

• Unaccompanied Children — 1,564 / 21,301

• Family Units — 1,558 / 43,794

• Single Adults — 27,178 / 194,052

• Totals — 30,300 / 259,147

Inadmissibles increased 34.5 percent, the data show. They totaled 2,212 for June against 1,644 in May. But May’s figure had increased 78 percent from April after a massive decline in March.

Inadmissibles — Month / Year

• Unaccompanied Alien Children — 87 / 2,366

• Family Units — 98 / 18,512

• Single Adults — 1,972 / 28,086

• Accompanied Minor Child — 55 / 430

Totals — 2,212 / 49,394

Totals for Both Categories — 35,512 / 276,001

As bad as June’s monthly total and increase over May seems, it’s nothing compared to last year’s figure. Last year, 104,311 were caught in June. This year’s total, 35,512, is 66-percent less.

The total for the year thus far, 308,541, is 60.5-percent less than last year’s 780,459.

2019 / 2020

October — 60,781 / 45,157

November — 62,469 / 42,642

December — 60,794 / 40,573

January — 58,317 / 36,584

February — 76,545 / 36,689

March — 103,731 / 34,064

April — 109,415 / 16,789

May — 144,116 / 23,118

June — 104,311 / 35,512

Hospitals Flooded
Given those numbers, the recent spike in Chinese Virus cases in border states is unsurprising.

Since March 1, the unofficial beginning of the pandemic, border agents have apprehended 109,921 illegals, CBP data show.

As The New American reported last month, citing the Center for Immigration Studies, illegals are flooding hospitals along the border, then landing in hospitals further inside the country.

“Evidence continues to mount that spikes in Covid cases in U.S. border states are due to successive waves of infected people fleeing Mexico’s dysfunctional and overwhelmed hospitals to get American medical care at least as much, if not more than, to the re-opening of those states’ economies,” CIS’s Todd Bensman wrote.

If an illegal claims he is sick, he is not immediately deported, as President Trump ordered in March to stop exactly what is happening. Instead, the illegal goes to the hospital. “It’s automatic,” an agent told Bensman.

Mexico’s hospitals reportedly are overwhelmed, so “huge numbers of them (infected people in Mexico) are coming just to seek medical attention,” one agent told me, speaking on condition of anonymity. “Agents are getting exposed and testing positive.” …

Another agent told me that, despite the push-back policy for Mexican citizens, some who crossed illegally and evade apprehension can still make their way to hospitals. These “getaways,” as agents call them, often know where the hospitals are and understand they will not be turned away.

In Texas, Bensman reported, 17.4 percent of hospitalized patients in Texas — 439 of 2,518 — “were in five trauma service areas abutting the Mexican border.”

Arizona’s hospitals are packed to the rafters with sick illegals as well:

Positive new infections have skyrocketed over the past month along the border, to 12,032 of the state’s 54,586 cases reported this week. The border cities of Yuma and Nogales have become the state’s reddest hotspots, with positive Covid tests in Santa Cruz County tripling to 31 percent of tests since May (1,482 this week). In Yuma County, positive Covid cases have tripled from 1,289 to 4,591 just since June 1. Pima County was reporting 5,587 this week compared to 187 on June 1.

Border agents are catching the virus and landing in quarantine, Bensman reported.
