On September 18, a Doctors Tea Party took place at Utah State Capitol Plaza in Salt Lake City. It was a gathering of approximately 100 doctors who are determined to defeat the Obama Health Care Legislation. (The event’s slogan was “Doctors United Against ObamaCare.”) Some members of the Doctors Tea Party group have been traveling from state to state in an effort to garner support for legal opposition to the Obamacare mandates that threaten their profession.
In speaking with Dr. George Watson of Kansas, our question about why he was present was answered with a quick response: The government does not care more about our patients than we do!
Dr. Robert Youngblood said, Help! Medicare hasn’t paid in two years and I keep right on treating my patients anyway. Get rid of the government bureaucracy.
This feeling of frustration and discontent continued throughout the presentation. Dr. Wayne Iverson from San Diego, who helped organize the National Doctors Tea Parties all over the country, was present. He assured those attending that from a legal basis Obamacare simply wont stand. Dr. Jane Orient, Director of AAPS (Association of American Physicians and Surgeons) gave a rousing presentation, calling Obamacare toxic waste and those who support it only care for insurance companies who want to dictate medical practices.
Dr. Orient called for a repeal of the law. She indicated that the plan says that patients are getting 30 percent too much medical care. The plan calls for treating minor medical issues while major needs would go unmet.
Representative Carl Wimmer spoke of the efforts of the Utah State legislature and how he had a bill passed to slow down the process. While at the Utah Freedom Conference, Rep. Wimmer indicated that he was not finished with the issue. He intends to introduce a Nullification Act in the next session of the legislature.
The concluding speaker was Mr. Scott Bradley, Utah State Senatorial Candidate. Mr Bradley called for a complete nullification of the law through the legislature of the State. His comments backed up the plans Rep. Wimmer promised to implement.
The Tea Party event was a solid beginning of a movement that hopes to spread across the nation with the message that socialized medicine will never be allowed in this country if they have anything to say about it. They encourage state legislatures across the nation to stand tall for the Constitution of the United States and not allow proponents of socialized medicine to prevail.
