Schultz Suspended For Ingraham Attack

Leftist radio bigmouth Ed Schultz (left), who appears on MSNBC, has been suspended for a week without pay for calling conservative radio talker Laura Ingraham a “slut.” Schultz blurted out the slur on his radio show on Tuesday during another of his frothing monologues, this one about conservatives who noticed that President Obama was visiting Ireland rather than visiting the victims of the tornado that leveled Joplin, Mo.

Yet Schultz’s asinine comment is just one among of many that he, and his leftist confreres, have made not only about conservative women but also conservatives in general. The outrageous commentary includes calling upon conservatives to be killed or to kill themselves.

What Schultz Said

An alleged former conservative, Schultz was incensed that conservatives weren’t following the correct script on the subject of President Obama and his trip to Ireland. Ingraham said the images of Obama quaffing a Guiness suggested the president’s “tone deafness” on the suffering of those Americans in Missouri.

Said Schultz:

And what are the Republicans thinking about? Theyre not thinking about their next-door neighbor. Theyre just thinking about how much this is going to cost. President Obama is going to be visiting Joplin, Missouri, on Sunday. But you know what theyre talking about? Like this right-wing slut, whats her name, Laura Ingraham? Yeah, shes a talk slut.

Unsurprisingly, the conservative and leftist blogosphere erupted in outrage, and MSNBC shut down Schutlz down for a week. The network issued this statement:

MSNBC management met with Ed Schultz this afternoon and accepted his offer to take one week of unpaid leave for the remarks he made yesterday on his radio program. Ed will address these remarks on his show tonight, and immediately following begin his leave. Remarks of this nature are unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

As for Schultz, he broadcast a lengthy mea culpa, most likely in the hope of keeping his job. He spoke at length about how much he loves working for MSNBC and how much he loves his family, and how much he left them all down, stating:

It doesn’t matter what the circumstances were. It doesn’t matter that it was on radio and I was ad-libbing. None of that matters. None of that matters. What matters is what I said was terribly vile and not of the standards that I or any other person should adhere to. I want all of you to know tonight that I did call Laura Ingraham today and did not make contact with her and I will apologize to her as I did in the message that I left her today.I also met with management here at MSNBC, and understanding the severity of the situation and what I said on the radio and how it reflected terribly on this company, I have offered to take myself off the air for an indefinite period of time with no pay. I want to apologize to Laura Ingraham. I want to apologize to my family, my wife. I have embarrassed my family. I have embarrassed this company.

I love working here. I love communicating with all of you on the radio and the communication that I have with you when I go out and do town hall meetings and meet the people that actually watch. I stand before you tonight to take full responsibility for what I said and how I said it, and I am deeply sorry.

To the staff here at MSNBC, I apologize for embarrassing the company and the only way that I can really make restitution for you is to give you a guarantee, and the only way that I can prove my sincerity in all of this is if I never use those words again. Tonight, you have my word that I won’t. Laura Ingraham, I am sorry. Very sorry. I’ll be back with you in the coming days.

Undoubtedly, the host of the eponymous Ed Show, is sorry. The question is whether he is sorry for calling Ingraham a vile name, or sorry that he might lose his livelihood and land at a no-name radio station back in North Dakota.

Nothing New From Schultz Or The Left

These remarks are nothing new, as Newsbusters.org has well documented. Indeed, MSNBC, contrary to its statements, has tolerated them for years.

He is an enemy of the country, in my opinion,” Schultz said of former Vice President Dick Cheney. “Dick Cheney is an enemy of the country…. Lord, take him to the Promised Land, will you? See, I dont even wish the guy goes to Hell, I just want to get him the hell out of here. On another occasion, he remarked, “Cheney is nothing but selfish pig.”

Last year, The Media Research Center compiled a report documenting the left’s worst rhetorical offenders. Among them is CNN’s Mike Malloy. His greatest hits include the following:

Ive spent way too much time in the past 20 years paying attention to what this slobbery bastard had to say. I told [my wife] Kathy the other day, I just Ive never said this before, but I hope Im alive when this, when this guy dies. I really do. He is so morbidly overweight. He smokes. He eats his Viagra and goes down to the Dominican Republic to bugger little boys. I just hope that Im around when he croaks. I dont know why, but I do.

The Limbaugh story I got my hopes up, I really did…. Whats the matter, Rush a little too much Viagra? Those 14-year olds really wear you down, wont they? Oh, my God, what a joke that was! If Limbaugh would have died, I would have demanded to see the death certificate because, after all, it is Hawaii…. Im waiting for the day when I pick it up, pick up a newspaper or click on the Internet and find out hes choked to death on his own throat fat or a great big wad of saliva or something, you know, whatever. Go away, Rush, you make me sick!

Cheney, by the way, looks very ruddy. I couldnt get over that. Like, he must have feasted on a Jewish baby, or a Muslim baby. He must have sent his people out to get one and bring it back so he could drink its blood.

The latest from the crazy people in the tea bag movement is a story about Virginia Thomas. She is the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and shes setting up a tea bagger nonprofit group. Now this will be interesting, because the tea baggers are essentially racist, and how are theyre going to deal with a very dark Clarence Thomas and a very white Virginia Thomas setting up a subdivision of their crazed tea bagger party how theyre going to deal with that will be great fun to watch. Now Clarence Thomas has always, kind of, adopted the attitude of the House Negro, so perhaps hell do it this time also.

Former MSNBC lunatic Keith Olbermann called newly elected Sen. Scott Brown, the “moderate” Republican who replaced deceased Sen. Ted Kennedy’s in a special election, “a ‘homophobic, racist, teabagging supporter of violence against women.”

M Stands For Misogyny

But outrageous attacks on women are the left’s real hallmark. Conservative women think things, at least according to leftist men, they are forbidden to think.

Olbermann called syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin a “mashed up bag of meat with lipstick.” And Montel Williams offered these remarks about Rep. Michelle Bachman, (R-Minn.): So, Michele, slit your wrist! Go ahead! [chuckles] I mean, you know, why not? I mean, if you want to or, you know, do us all a better thing. Move that knife up about two feet. I mean, start right at the collarbone.

Malloy, apparently, agrees, having erupted with this one: Bachmann, said he, is a hatemonger. Shes the type of person that would have gladly rounded up the Jews in Germany and shipped them off to death camps. … This is an evil bitch from Hell.

At her website, Malkin reprises the outright hateful attacks on Sarah Palin.

Malkin and P.J. Salvatore at BigJournalism.com wonder whether the M in MSNBC means misogyny.
