Obama chooses Socialist for “Climate Czar”

Obama chooses carol brownerPresident-elect Barack Obama has selected the former head of the Environmental Protection Agency under Bill Clinton, Carol Browner, to serve as his “Assistant to the President on Energy and Climate Change.” Plenty of the “qualifications” on her résumé should raise eyebrows for anyone concerned about freedom or sovereignty, but perhaps most alarming is her leadership seat on Socialist International’s “Commission for a Sustainable World Society.” The organization believes, among other things, that “an essential aspect of realising a more fair and effective form of global governance is reform of the United Nations,” it says on its website.

Congress is investigating a series of questionable “green” loans made by the Obama administration to a variety of dubious companies, more than a few of which later went bankrupt costing taxpayers billions of dollars. But despite repeated requests, Energy Secretary Steven Chu has so far failed to testify on the matter, forcing Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif., left) to warn him of a potential subpoena if cooperation is not forthcoming.

U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) missed a flight to Washington, D.C., this morning after being detained by screeners with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for refusing a full-body pat-down, his staff said. The incident happened at the Nashville, Tennessee, airport when a so-called “naked-body scanner” found some sort of anomaly around the conservative Senator’s knee.

DEA moneyAs the “Fast and Furious” gun-trafficking scandal continues to grow, Congress is now investigating a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) program that was laundering money for Mexican cartels. Meanwhile, multiple cartel leaders and reports continue to suggest that the federal government is deeply involved in the narcotics and arms trades.

A harshly critical new report by congressional investigators says that despite spending close to $60 billion on the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), screening is based on “theatrics” that has failed to catch any terrorists, while passengers and crew are still the most effective line of defense. Air travel, meanwhile, is no safer than it was before September 11, 2001.

As the scandal surrounding the Obama administration’s operation to put high-powered guns in the hands of Mexican drug cartels continues to grow, new revelations suggest that American taxpayers might have actually paid for the weapons through the stimulus bill and multiple agencies. On top of that, Attorney General Eric Holder apparently lied about his knowledge of the scheme.

With more and more Americans becoming pro-life and states across the nation enacting new laws aimed at restricting abortion while ending tax subsidies for abortionists, the question of Roe v. Wade and federal courts continues to plague the debate.

ATF Boss Threatened with Contempt Charge

As a congressional investigation of the Obama administration’s “Project Gunrunner” scandal proceeds, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif., picture, left) is threatening ATF Acting Director Kenneth Melson with contempt of Congress charges if he continues to defy a subpoena demanding documents. The controversial government operation being probed, known as “Fast and Furious,” deliberately put high-powered weapons into the hands of known criminals — with tragic results.
