For more than 200 years, the political left has been coming up with reasons why criminals should not be punished as much, or at all. The latest gambit in Missouri is providing judges with the costs of incarcerating the criminals they sentence.
When President Obama spoke to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute on September 15, he recited well-known words from the Declaration of Independence to describe what makes America unique and strong. He did so without identifying where the words came from or that he was even referring to something famous. But there was little need to, since the words in question should be recognized by any schoolchild who has even a rudimentary knowledge of American history.
Karl Rove’s recent trashing of Christine O’Donnell, the winner of the Republican primary in Delaware having defeated the so-called moderate Republican Mike Castle, is the first significant sign that a civil war is now raging within the Republican party between the establishment members, or Ruling Class, and the Tea-Party conservatives.
As Pat Buchanan pointed out in a recent column, it is time once again for the Revenge of the Rockefeller Republicans in Delaware, where the party establishment has gone bonkers over U.S. Senate candidate and Tea Party heroine Christine O'Donnell's primary victory over Mike Castle, a former two-term Governor and nine-term Congressman.
The Census Bureau recently shook up the nation with its report that the poverty rate for 2009 had increased dramatically over that of the previous year. The federal government considers one to be impoverished if one’s income is $10,830 or less, or $22,050 for a family of four.

Seems the late Ernest C. Withers, a.k.a. “the Original Civil Rights Photographer” whose iconographic pictures recorded the turbulent 1960’s, was also a snitch for the FBI. A paid one, no less, as the socialist, “we-hate-profits-unless-they’re-ours” New York Times stresses. It reports that Withers not only snapped photos of Martin Luther King, Jr., and the era’s other demagogues but also hobnobbed with federal agents, “disclosing details about plans for marches and political beliefs of the leaders, even personal information like the leaders’ car tag numbers.”
Charles Krauthammer, in his Washington Post column (8/27/10), said, "Liberalism under siege is an ugly sight indeed," pointing out that overwhelming majorities of Americans have repudiated liberal agenda items such as: Obamacare, Obama's stimulus, building an Islamic center and mosque near ground zero, redefinition of marriage to include same-sex marriage, lax immigration law enforcement and vast expansion of federal power that includes unprecedented debt and deficits.
