New York Governor Andrew Cuomo accused the Trump administration of abandoning its responsibility in combating the coronavirus, urging the president to wear a mask himself and then sign an executive order forcing all Americans to wear masks. “They should start telling the people of this country the truth,” Cuomo said. He also asserted that reopening fast was not good for the economy. “When that virus spikes, the market goes down, not up,” he argued, adding: “This was not a smart policy to rush reopening. It did not help the economy. It’s the exact opposite.”
Cuomo neglects to mention that over 20 million Americans lost jobs since mid March when state and local governments began imposing lockdowns on citizens and businesses. That’s an unemployment rate of over 14 percent, a level not seen since the Great Depression.
If the economy, and thus the livelihoods of the American people took that level of damage after just a few months of businesses being closed, how much greater would it be if the lockdowns were prolonged to as long as Cuomo would like them to be?
Cuomo also unveiled a large sculpture showing the curve of coronavirus cases. “If that spread comes to New York, we could have to do this all over again,” he said. “Doing this once in life is enough. We don't need to climb another mountain. one mountain was enough.”
That’s the argument being used in New York and elsewhere to maintain or reinstate the draconian coronavirus restrictions. In many states and localities, officials, too tepid to fully bring everything back to a standstill, appear to have opted for the option of forcing people to wear masks.
Presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden said that if he wins, he will issue an executive order for nationwide compulsory mask-wearing. “The one thing we do know, these masks make a gigantic difference. I would insist that everybody in public be wearing that mask,” Biden said. “Anyone to reopen, it would have to make sure that they walked into a business that had masks.”
“I would do everything possible to make it required,” he added.
Masks have limited use in stopping the spread of infectious diseases, however — especially the cloth masks many wear due to cost and limited availability of medical masks.
“I don’t have a problem with people wearing them. I just want them to understand that they aren’t very much more protective than if they weren’t wearing them. And they’re really not doing a whole lot of good for the people around them,” said Lisa Brosseau, ScD.
Furthermore, a review of medical literature related to mask-wearing conducted by University of Ontario Ph.D. Denis Rancourt found there were no studies showing masks or respirators work to prevent influenza-like illnesses or respiratory illnesses transmitted by droplets or aerosol particles.
Furthermore, the relevant known physics and biology, which I review, are such that masks and respirators should not work. It would be a paradox if masks and respirators worked, given what we know about viral respiratory diseases: The main transmission path is long-residence-time aerosol particles (< 2.5 μm), which are too fine to be blocked, and the minimum-infective dose is smaller than one aerosol particle.
Also, if people get hot or sticky from breathing in their masks or their glasses fog up, they often then touch their vapor-soaked faces — before touching everything else around them, risking an increased rate of spread of the disease.
Why, then, is there such a push for masks?
It’s simply another way for the Deep State to keep the COVID-19 hysteria alive. Although COVID-19 has a 99.74 percent survivability rate and usually only the elderly and immunocompromised (the obese, those with heart disease and other illnesses) are severely affected by it, the media and political establishment have successfully convinced a large portion of the population that it poses an existential threat to civilization as we know it.
This state of mass panic has proven immensely useful to the global elites for achieving a number of political goals, such as enacting far-reaching socialistic controls on the population without resistance and mentally preparing people to accept a mandatory vaccine.
The pandemic gives governments an excuse to restrict religious worship and organized demonstrations by constitutionalists (while turning a blind eye to the social distance-free riots by Antifa and Black Lives Matter, which New York City makes sure not to ask COVID-positive individuals about during contact tracing interviews).
So what’s behind the mask? It’s a powerful propaganda weapon that preserves the pandemic illusion and keeps the people in a state of perpetual fear — making them all the easier to control.
