In keeping with the radical proposals their presidential candidates are backing, Democrats in Congress are ready to enshrine science denial in the law.
Now the party of abortion and sodomy wants to amend the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to include the “transgendered,” that subset of the mentally ill who think they are members of the opposite sex.
The practical result: Schools will have to permit boys who pretend they are girls to play on girls' teams, and prisons will have to permit men who pretend they are women to live in the women's wing of the lock-up.
The Equality Act landed in the hopper on Capitol Hill under the names of 234 Democrats. Just one Democrat, pro-life Representative Dan Lipinski, refused to join the insanity, The Daily Caller reported.
Not surprisingly, the sponsor is an “openly gay” congressman, Representative David Cicilline of Rhode Island.
Among the “facilities” requiring “desegregation” to give homosexuals and “transgenders “equal access” are schools, housing, and even juries.
Ominously, the bills strips churches and religious organizations of their exemption from federal civil rights law in defending “discriminatory” practices tied to their beliefs.
Says the bill, “The Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 ... shall not provide a claim concerning, or a defense to a claim under, a covered title, or provide a basis for challenging the application or enforcement of a covered title.”
Said the lavender legislator, “We cannot allow claims of religious freedom to be used to discriminate against an LGBT individual.”
The Committee on Education and Labor Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Human Services heard testimony on Tuesday, The Daily Caller reported.
Men Should Play in Women’s Sports, and Go to Prison With Them
The bill’s boosters claim that “discrimination” harms “transgenders,” and so society must ignore their mental illness and indulge their pathological fantasies.
Sara Warbelow of the homosexual Human Rights Campaign explained that we can’t ban boys from the girls’ locker room because “policies that bar transgender students from locker rooms that match their gender compound discrimination experienced by transgender students who participate in school athletics.”
Why is that? Because “exclusion from the locker room does more than force transgender athletes to use facilities that do not correspond to their gender, it isolates them from their teammates,” she testified. “Other members of their team will have spent additional time together in the locker room, forming and cultivating important relationships.”
So if a boy wants to get a sex thrill at school in the girls’ locker room, all he need do is claim he is a girl.
Nor does Warbelow think that boys who pretend to be girls will dominate girls’ sports and the opposition of top women athletes. “Opponents of equality in athletics for transgender athletes have argued that girls who are transgender have unfair physiological advantages over cisgender girls and as a result, will dominate women’s competitive sports,” she said. “None of these arguments are rooted in fact.... There is no data to suggest that girls who are transgender are dominating athletics or posing a harm to their cisgender counterparts.”
Real-world evidence shows otherwise. The “data” are piling up.
Boys and men are dominating girls’ and women’s cycling, weightlifting, and high-school and college track. A “transgender boy” — a girl taking male hormones — has won a girls’ wrestling title two straight years.
Said lesbian tennis champ Martina Navratilova, “I am happy to address a transgender woman in whatever form she prefers, but I would not be happy to compete against her. It would not be fair.” For that remark, a homosexual athletics group booted her from its board of advisors.
But the problems go beyond sports, a radical feminist who opposes transgender ideology testified.
Julia Beck, of the Women’s Liberation Front, warned the House committee about the more significant and dangerous consequences of science denial and pretending that men are women. She explained that “male rapists will go to women’s prisons,” as happened in Britain, while women rape victims will have to contend with men in women’s shelters.
Boys, she testified, will be harassing girls in mixed-sex toilets, and “girls and women will no longer have a right to ask for female medical staff or intimate care providers, including elderly or disabled women who are at serious risk of sexual abuse.”
Women security officers and police will be forced to pat-down or otherwise intimately search men who claim to be women, while women “undergoing security checks will no longer have the right to refuse having those searches performed by men claiming a feminine identity.”
No worries, though, because the Equality Act makes all of us equal.
