'Jane Roe' Arrested At Sotomayor Hearings

Written by  Steven Yates

Norma McCorveyAs Sonia Sotomayor faces tough questions about her stance on the volatile abortion issue, pro-life protesters have made their presence known. Earlier today, Norma McCorvey, the former 'Jane Roe,' was one of four people arrested just outside the confirmation hearings.

McCorvey, who originally brought the suit that became Roe v. Wade, has become into one of abortion's most outspoken opponents. She has called on the federal government to reverse the decision which, since 1973, has allowed some 50 million legal abortions to take place.

Arrested with her were three other pro-life activists, Francis Mahoney, Andrew Beacham and Robert James.

The group, which has its own website, has planned additional protests outside the Dirksen Senate building today, where well-known pro-life activist Randall Terry will speak.
