Democrats Pull Last-Minute Stunt to Derail Kavanaugh

Not content with lying to derail the elevation of federal Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court, Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee, which held hearings on Kavanaugh all last week, launched a final desperate salvo at the eminently qualified jurist.

Senator Dianne Feinstein (shown) sent a letter about Kavanaugh to the FBI, refusing to discuss its contents even though what it said was partially revealed. The Intercept reported that the letters involves some sort of accusation from a woman about something that happened in high school!

The anti-Kavanaugh chorus on the committee, which repeatedly misrepresented the judge’s testimony, apparently think the letter will cause Republican Chairman Charles Grassley to delay the vote on his confirmation.

It won’t.

The Letter

The letter, which Feinstein refused to share even with committee Democrats, took a “circuitous route,” The Intercept reported.

“It purportedly describes an incident that was relayed to someone affiliated with Stanford University who authored the letter and sent it to Rep. Anna Eshoo, a Democrat who represents the area,” the webite reported.

Upshot: An unidentified someone told an unidentified someone else something secret about Kavanaugh, and the second someone wrote a secret letter to his — or her — congresswoman.

This cloudy, nebulous, obscure, opaque chain is the basis of Feinstein’s sending the letter — from one unidentified someone to an unidentified someone else — to the FBI.

“Different sources provided different accounts of the contents of the letter,” The Intercept reported, “and some of the sources said they themselves had heard different versions, but the one consistent theme was that it describes an incident involving Kavanaugh and a woman while they were in high school.”

The Intercept continued:

Eshoo passed the letter to her fellow Californian, Feinstein. Word began leaking out on the Hill about it, and Feinstein was approached by Democrats on the committee, but she rebuffed them, Democratic sources said. Feinstein’s fellow senators want their own opportunity to gauge whether or not the letter should be made public, rather than leaving it to Feinstein to make that call unilaterally. The sources were not authorized to speak on the record, and said that no senators on the committee, other than Feinstein, have so far been able to view the letter.

And wouldn’t you know it, lawyers are involved. That would be Debra Katz, “a whistleblower attorney who works with #MeToo survivors.” Her law firm won’t comment.

Feinstein’s Not Talking

Feinstein is not saying anything, either. “I have received information from an individual concerning the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. That individual strongly requested confidentiality, declined to come forward or press the matter further,” Feinstein said, noting that she has “honored that decision” and “sent it over to the FBI.

Grassley scheduled a vote on Kavanaugh for September 20 at 1:45 p.m., The Hill reported, and he isn’t going to change it.

White House spokesman Kerri Kupec said the letter is unlikely to contain any startling revelations, but instead is a desperate attempt by the Democrats, led by leftist Senator Chuck Schumer, to destroy Kavanaugh.

Kavanaugh, Kupec said, “has had 65 meetings with senators — including with Senator Feinstein — sat through over 30 hours of testimony, addressed over 2,000 questions in a public setting and additional questions in a confidential session. Not until the eve of his confirmation has Senator Feinstein or anyone raised the specter of new ‘information’ about him.”

The FBI “thoroughly and repeatedly vetted Judge Kavanaugh, dating back to 1993, for the some of the most highly sensitive roles,” including those with Independent Counsel Ken Starr, the White House, and his current job, the federal Circuit Court of Appeals in Washington, D.C.

Sen. Schumer promised to ‘’oppose Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination with everything I have,’” Kupec said, “and it appears he is delivering with this 11th-hour attempt to delay his confirmation.”

Contraception-Abortion Lie

Feinstein’s effort follows a scurrilous campaign to misrepresent the clear meaning of some parts of Kavanaugh’s testimony, most notably what he said about a case in which he dissented from a decision involving the unconstitutional Obamacare contraception mandate.

Pro-abortion Democrats, led by leftist Senator Kamala Harris, organized a Two Minutes Hate, loudly, falsely, and knowingly claiming that Kavanaugh called all birth control “abortion-inducing.”

So shameless was the lie that even The Washington Post felt obliged to step in. The Post’s fact checker gave Harris four Pinocchios.
