A DNA test has established “with scientific certainty” that Hunter Biden, the second son of former Vice President Joe Biden, is the father of a baby born out of wedlock to an Arkansas woman.
According to a motion filed Wednesday in Independence County, Arkansas, by the child’s mother, Lunden Alexis Roberts, Hunter Biden “is not expected to challenge the results of the DNA test or the testing process.”
Hunter Biden initially denied having sexual relations with Roberts but eventually agreed to the DNA test, according to documents filed by Roberts’ attorney, Clint Lancaster.
In May, Roberts filed her petition asking for paternity and child support and requiring him to provide health insurance for the infant, who was born in August 2018 and identified only as “Baby Doe.” The child’s mother is also seeking fees, costs, and “all other just and proper relief.” Out-of-pocket healthcare expenses would be evenly divided by Biden and Roberts.
According to Page Six, Hunter Biden dated Hallie Biden, the widow of his older brother Beau (an officer in the Army Judge Advocate General's Corps and Attorney General of Delaware who died of a brain tumor) from April 2017 to April 2019.
The timeframe means Hunter conceived “Baby Doe” while he was still romantically involved with his brother’s widow.
Lunden Alexis Roberts is an Arkansas native who played basketball at Western Illinois University and at Arkansas State University. She graduated from Arkansas State in 2014 with a degree in interdisciplinary studies.
According to a family member’s social-media post, Roberts was living in Washington, D.C. two years ago studying crime scene investigation in graduate school and working with the FBI.
Public records reveal Roberts lived in D.C. and Virginia from 2015 to 2018. The Arkansas State University website says she is the “daughter of Kim and Rob Roberts” and “enjoys hunting and shooting skeet.” Her father owns a gun works shop in Batesville.
Little else is known about the woman who gave birth to Hunter Biden’s child. Her social-media accounts have been taken down and she has not responded to requests for comment from the media.
“She really values her privacy,” Lancaster said of Roberts, adding that his client “really does not want this to be a media spectacle. She does not want this to affect Joe Biden’s campaign. She just wants this baby to get financial support from the baby’s father.”
Dustin A. Duke, former managing attorney for the Center for Arkansas Legal Services, said there won’t be a bar to the paternity determination, despite Biden’s lack of ties to the state (the suit describes him as a resident of Annapolis, Maryland).
The lack of Arkansas ties, however, could complicate Roberts’ efforts to secure child support.
“If he’s never stepped foot in the state of Arkansas, if he has no connection to the state of Arkansas, then child support actually has to be decided in whatever state he lives in,” Duke said.
Hunter Biden is a graduate of Georgetown University and Yale Law School and is a member of the bar in Connecticut and the District of Columbia.
In 2013, at the age of 43, he received an age-related waiver and a waiver for past drug use to become a direct commission officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve. Joe Biden administered the commissioning oath in a White House ceremony.
The following month, Hunter tested positive for cocaine and was discharged.
In 2015, the adultery website Ashley Madison was hacked and Hunter Biden’s name was leaked as being on its list of customers. Later that year, he and his wife, Kathleen, separated.
In a 2017 divorce filing, Kathleen accused her estranged husband of “spending extravagantly on his own interests (including drugs, alcohol, prostitutes, strip clubs and gifts for women with whom he has sexual relations), while leaving the family with no funds to pay legitimate bills.”
In 2017, Hunter began dating the wife of his deceased brother. On May 16, of this year, he married South African native Melissa Cohen.
TMZ reported of Biden and Cohen, “The couple was married by an L.A. minister who runs an instant marriage company, which makes us think Uncle Joe and the rest of the fam were not there.”
Hunter Biden’s time on the board of the Ukrainian firm Burisma, during which he was paid $50,000 a month, is at the heart of Democrats’ current impeachment push against President Trump.
The president asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to look into the Bidens’ involvement with Burisma, as Joe Biden, while Vice President, threatened in 2016 to withhold $1 billion in U.S. loan guarantees from the European country if its government did not fire Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin, who was investigating Burisma.
According to Rudy Giuliani, President Trump’s personal attorney and the former mayor of New York, Burisma funneled $900,000 in lobbying fees to the Bidens through Seneca Partners, a consulting firm Hunter Biden founded with Chris Heinz, former Secretary of State John Kerry’s stepson.
In a letter addressed to House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, the committee’s Republicans called for a subpoena for Hunter Biden to be issued.
